Craft Heritage:
The “koodai” is a traditional South Indian basket from Tamil Nadu, once an everyday sight, used to carry lunch boxes, groceries, or temple offerings. Originally made from natural materials, the plastic-wired version rose to prominence in the 80s and 90s. Today, it’s being revived with a contemporary twist. This tote is handwoven by women artisans trained by the Danisara Foundation, merging heritage, sustainability, and empowerment in every weave.
